PM Modi centered I-Day speech around himself: Mayawati

Welcoming the Prime Minister’s strategy of Reform, Perform and Transform, industry body CII hoped that the work culture of the government will continue to bring in further growth, development and prosperity to the young country of 125 billion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced a 20 per cent hike in the pension for freedom fighters and said museums would be built in several states to glorify the role of “lesser-known” people from tribal communities who contributed to the freedom struggle.

Addressing the nation earlier today after unfurling the National Flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his greetings to 125 crore Indians at home and overseas and said that his government is surrounded with aspirations.

Highlighting the wide range of rail operation in the country, Modi said “while we talk of bio-toilets in trains, on the other side we are also dreaming of bringing bullet train”.

Attacking the government over varied issues ranging from Kashmir policy to assault on Dalits, AAP leader Ashutosh said Modi’s speech was “uninspiring and directionless”.

Stating that the speed of delivery in vital areas had increased, he said the pace of construction of rural roads has gone up from 70-75 km per day to 100 km a day. “Our continuous efforts have ensured that inflation rate does not rise above 6 per cent”, he said.

“We have made a lot of efforts to contain price rise”, he said, adding he will leave no stone unturned to live up to expectations of people in controlling prices. “But we did not let it rise above 6 per cent”.

The government’s scorecard on governance and development achievements is truly commendable and CII welcomes the Prime Minister’s strategy of “Reform, Perform and Transform”, Banerjee said.

“Earlier, 1500 km line was commissioned in the last 10 years while today we have succeeded in commissioning 3500 km line in two years”, Modi said in his Independence Day speech. Mentioning the emphasis on transparency, he said subsidies are being better targeted to those that need them.
