A lot of Dell’s more successful products, whether the XPS or Latitude series of laptops, converged to help make the new Chromebook 13. The Dell Chromebook 13 looks like a cost-effective Pixel 2 alternative.

When Google introduced Chromebooks in 2011, its “always in the cloud” philosophy made these machines seem like starter kits for the lite laptop user. Furthermore, it touts premium materials like glass (trackpad), magnesium alloy and carbon fiber.
Google Inc.is trying to win over corporate customers with the Dell Chromebook 13, which offers more flexibility to run a variety of apps that haven’t been easily accessible on previous Chromebooks.
The Chromebook has a bit of metal in it which adds to the weight 3.5 lbs.
Let’s take a closer look at the processor. There’s has 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage and boots up in under 6 seconds.
The top end model will cost around $700, but that’s still much cheaper than the $1,000 Pixel laptops. That dual-core i5 chip is one of the most powerful to find its way into a Chrome OS laptop, boasting a 2.3GHz base clock and 2.9GHz Turbo Boost. It may not really mean a big deal compared to laptops, but for chromebooks, it’s pretty unbelievable. In addition, the displays are designed to provide long life, durability and high scratch resistance with the Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™ touch solution.
Gizmodo said that it’s already a major upgrade to the 1366×768 TN panel of Chromebook 11, which had some brightness issues and “washed out” colors. Dell is also claiming that you’ll get a clean 12 hours of battery life out of the Dell Chromebook 13, though we won’t know for sure until we spend some quality time with it.
It’s a bit limited at 802.11ac WiFi and a Bluetooth of 4.0, as PC World expected.

The new Chromebook 13, which is being pitched at business users as well as consumers (via The Verge), offers a full 1080p, 13.3-inch screen within a package that starts at a modest $399 (about £250) price point. It can go up to $899 but that depends on how the customer wants the specs to be configured.
