Former NFL star Darren Sharper will be behind bars for a long time. In addition to prison time, Sharper was fined $20,000.

Darren’s punishment comes after he pled guilty to sneaking drugs into victim’s drinks to knock them out, then having sex with the women while they were unconscious.

He is accused of drugging and raping as many as 16 women in several cities, including Las Vegas.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael McMahon says he’s satisfied with the prison sentence given to former National Football League star Darren Sharper.

Sharper was in custody in California until he entered his plea past year, at which time he was transferred to Louisiana federal prison. The sentence, 18 years and four months imprisonment, was 15 months short of the maximum. “It was all about one person, you”, one of his victims said in court.

Should Sharper serve his entire 18-year term, the 40-year-old disgraced sportsman will be eligible for release from prison in 2032.

Sharper’s family left the courtroom without speaking to reporters. He looked at the floor as he said, “I’m still trying to figure out why I made some of these choices”.

Sharper flipped on the two others involved in the horrific acts, but he never had the chance to take the stand, as both plead guilty to the charges and therefore he likely never had a chance to lower his sentence. The woman’s voice was shaky and she frequently brought a handkerchief to her eyes. She closed out her remarks by telling him to “go to hell”, after tearfully stating that she didn’t believe his actions to be a mistake, but rather, a way of life.

Former NFL safety Darren Sharper faced accusations of drugging and raping women in four states, and he was in a New Orleans court Thursday morning for a sentencing hearing.

However, L.A. Superior Court Judge Triche Milazzo refused, claiming it was too lenient in June. Sharper pled guilty or no contest to charges in Louisiana, California, Arizona and Nevada.

Sharper agreed to a plea deal that initially was going to put him away for nine years, but the judge decided that wasn’t enough and increased the sentence.

The former New Orleans Saints safety, jailed since February 2014, apologized and appeared chastened by his fall from grace. But a federal judge in Louisiana felt that wasn’t enough time for Darren, 40, to serve after committing such a awful crime, and on August 17 Judge Jane Triche Milazzo ruled that the sentence should be doubled to 18 years.
