In a first, Trump says he regrets painful comments

The Clinton campaign criticised the appointment, saying they expected it to see the Trump campaign “double down on more hateful, divisive rhetoric”.

While Trump’s campaign staff publicly insists there is plenty of time left for the Republican to change the trajectory of the race, the candidate is facing a shrinking timeline.

“Day one was incredible”, Conway, 49, told ABC News’ Tom Llamas outside Trump Tower in New York Wednesday.

Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen Bannon will become the campaign’s CEO, and veteran Republican strategist Kellyanne Conway, a native of Alpine, will be the campaign manager, Trump announced. Campaign sources have told reporters that Bannon has been pushing Trump for a while to run as a proud nationalist who is a bona fide outsider.

“We feel when it comes to the issues, we’ve really never had such a contrast election”.

Judy Woodruff of PBS News asked whether Bannon’s involvement with Donald Trump was something to be concerned about, as putting Bannon in charge would actually cause Donald Trump to quadruple-down and head in the wrong direction of courting the general public. “Polish is taking a back seat to populism – he’s not going to be the candidate of discipline, he’s going to be the candidate of disruption”.

Bannon’s rise dramatizes the catastrophe GOP establishmentarians brought upon themselves by imagining that they could use the far right for their own purposes while somehow keeping it tame.

Mr Bannon’s website has been fiercely loyal to Mr Trump for months and sharply critical of Republican leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan.

“What he’s going to do is remain true to himself, which is what this campaign has been about”, Lewandowski said. I think that’s concerning.

On June, Trump’s children helped trigger the ouster of his first campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, who is now a CNN contributor. “We met as the “core four” today”, she added, referring to herself, Mr Bannon, Mr Manafort and Mr Manafort’s deputy Rick Gates. “But he is still the same man who insults Gold Star families, demeans women, mocks people with disabilities and thinks he knows more about ISIS than our generals”.

Donald Trump has reshuffled his campaign team for the second time in two months as he trails Hillary Clinton in the polls in most key battleground states.

Conway, the first woman manager of a Republican presidential run, said she would rather lose an election campaign based on substance than win it on style.

The Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was on the hot seat after giving his campaign hints that another turbocharged iteration is on the horizon that leads to a GOP nominee who is completely unshackled, bolder, and more irreverent than before. Trump also received his first classified national security briefing at a Federal Bureau of Investigation field office in lower Manhattan.

The unmistakable, remarkable message: if Donald Trump is going down, he is going down Trump-ing. Ted Cruz’ campaign for the presidency and headed an associated super PAC, and said she has learned several things about Trump that Cruz or others may not know, including his attitude on women.

Retired U.S. Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, a Trump adviser who attended the briefing at the NY field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said the officials who conducted the two-hour session were “absolutely professional” and that it was “a great conversation”.

Analysts, however, said news of the staff moves could muddle his attempts to refocus his campaign pitch.

Both Bannon and Conway have close ties to Republican megadonor Robert Mercer, who leads a NY hedge fund and has investments in Breitbart News.

Ms. Omarosa says Donald Trump will have all of his enemies bowing down to him as Commander-in-Chief.

Haynes said the changes are another sign of “disruption” with the Republican campaign.

Trump, a NY real estate developer and former reality TV host, has largely been unable to extend his reach beyond white middle-class voters who pack his rallies.
