A multi-jurisdictional plea was made by prosecutors who originally suggested a 9-year prison.

It’s the result of Sharper admitting to raping and drugging women in four different states, with accusations from 16 different women, according to the New Orleans Advocate.

Former New Orleans Saints Safety Darren Sharper sobbed in a courtroom Thursday (August 18) as a judge sentenced him to 18 years in prison for drugging and raping or attempting to rape women in four states.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael McMahon says he’s satisfied with the prison sentence given to former National Football League star Darren Sharper.

Milazzo gave Sharper close to the the maximum 19½-year sentence she could have imposed.

Sharper pleaded guilty in federal court to drugging three women so he could rape them.

“I lived my life right for 38 years and then I took this path”, Sharper said. Sharper apparently would spike women’s drinks so he and another man could rape them. “You continued to rape other women in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas”. Nunez also admitted a role in the drug distribution scheme, agreeing to serve a 10-year federal prison term as a result of a combined deal in federal and state courts.

The five-time Pro Bowl safety apologized in court for “heinous decisions” that led to the sexual assaults.

Sharper played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints from 1997 through the 2010 season.
