The Sikeston-based restaurant is well-known for tossing their hot, buttery rolls across the room to hungry customers with their hands raised.
The lawsuit claims the restaurant should have known about the dangers involved in its signature practice. She claims she “sustained a lacerated cornea with a vitreous detachment and all head, neck, eyes and vision were severely damaged” after being hit by a dinner roll during a visit in September of 2014.
“The original (restaurant) was a very small cafe and it was crowded one day for lunch, and Norman Lambert was going through passing out rolls, but he couldn’t get through the cafe, and a customer said, ‘throw it to me, ‘ and that’s how it got started”, Andy Mills told the News-Leader. The lawsuit says she incurred medical bills of approximately $10,000.
FOX 4 spoke with the law firm representing Tucker on Thursday, and they identified Tucker as a woman, not a male as Johnny Fugitt of the River Front Times reported. In a previous legal case, a man sued a baseball stadium after a thrown hot dog hit him in the eye and tore his retina. It’s a popular attraction for visitors from around the country because of its reputation as “Home of the Throwed Rolls”.
