Johnson deserves a spot at debate
Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson said Wednesday that his party and the Green Party do not cancel each other out.

The party lost its automatic spot on the ballot alongside the Republican, Democratic, and Green parties because it failed to clear signature and vote-tally thresholds in recent gubernatorial and presidential elections.
Despite Johnson’s impressive haul this month, and the $1.36 million he raised in June, he still trails far behind Clinton and Trump in fundraising, who took in $270 million and $91 million, respectively.
That’s a marked change from 2012, when Johnson ran as a Libertarian against Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. In New Mexico, Johnson received nearly 4 percent of the vote, the best total of any individual state. “We really need to cut back, and it’s not going to happen from the two major parties”, Buckley said.
While there are several competitive congressional races in Florida this year, the Libertarians only have candidates in these contests.
Voters in downtown Youngstown say they’re not too familiar with the Libertarian candidate, but are willing to listen.
In addition to the 15 percent requirement, the commission also requires that the candidates “appear on a sufficient number of state ballots to have a mathematical chance of winning a majority vote in the Electoral College”. Jon Tester, a Democrat.
Green Party candidate Jill Stein attacked Hillary Clinton on Monday for her use of a private email server as Secretary of State, amid reports that notes from Clinton’s interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation during its probe of the matter would be turned over soon to Congress.
Putting another candidate in the debates would enhance the election by helping illuminate serious challenges, including the almost $20 trillion national debt, that neither Mrs. Clinton nor Mr. Trump has seriously addressed. Nader’s best showing was 15.2 percent in Missoula County, which is were Stein support appears strongest. The Johnson campaign reports a almost $3 million-dollar fundraising boost in the first two weeks of August.

“It’s more about the unlikeability of the two major party candidates that is driving this with Johnson and Stein that is creating this big opening”. Under that new law, the Libertarian Party will remain a recognized party if Johnson receives at least 2.5 percent of the vote in November.
