“El Chapo” Guzman was the head of the Sinaloa cartel and one of the world’s most wanted drug kingpins until he was captured in January.

Jalisco state attorney general Eduardo Almaguer said Tuesday that El Chapo’s son was among those kidnapped.
It was thought that another of Guzman’s sons, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman, may have been among the group of men who were marched out of the restaurant.
Seven gunmen in pickup trucks descended on the upscale bar and restaurant Monday around dawn and abducted multiple victims, in what investigators have called a likely settling of scores between rival drug cartels.
Jalisco state Governor Aristoteles Sandoval said Monday that security had been tightened in the area and that local authorities were working to capture those responsible.
Almaguer had also said that Ivan Archivaldo was among those kidnapped, though he eventually backpedaled on the claim.
The elder Guzman Is believed to have almost a dozen children, Jesus Alfredo being the youngest of his children from his first marriage.
“The subjects enter, control the diners, separate the women to a side and violently take them (the men)”, the Attorney General said.
Initial reports suggest that CJNG operatives ambushed and kidnapped high-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel while they were celebrating a night out.
Women at the celebration around 1 a.m. were released, and one man at the restaurant was reportedly able to escape. “This is an important development because it affects the power structure of the Sinaloa cartel”.
The US also wants Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to be extradited to the US on charges of smuggling vast amounts of drugs into the country.
The Sinaloa organization, according to intelligence agencies, is a transnational business empire that operates in the United States, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, the Americas and Asia.
