Accused Olympic chief released from hospital for questioning
But Mr Hickey was transferred to hospital after complaining of chest pains, where he underwent cardiac tests. His condition is stable.

The Olympic Council of Ireland said Hickey made a decision to “step aside temporarily” as an IOC member and from all his other Olympic positions “until this matter is fully resolved”.
“The Olympic Council of Ireland can confirm that Pat Hickey has been discharged from hospital and has been accompanied to a police station to complete a deposition, ” the National Olympic Committee said in a statement today.
Mark Adams, International Olympic Committee director of communications, said the organisation would co-operate fully with police. “That’s all I can tell you”.
Brazilian authorities suspect that he was involved in illegally passing on Olympic tickets to scalpers who sold them at inflated prices.
When he was arrested on August 5, Mallon was in possession of more than 800 top-class tickets for the Games.
Hickey, 71, was released from hospital yesterday after feeling unwell following his arrest at his hotel in Rio earlier this week.
He said the terms of reference would be decided at a meeting with the Attorney General Máire Whelan and senior department officials later.
Mr Hickey’s son Stephen worked for the company in 2012. He had apparently tried to escape when the police arrived at his hotel room.
Hickey was filmed Thursday being taken out of the hospital in a wheelchair.
The authorised ticket reseller (ATR) contracted by the OCI is Dublin-based PRO10 Sports Management.
Asked about the possibility of an internal OCI inquiry, Mr Ross replied: “I’m assuming that is now off the table”.
Photos of Hickey in a dressing gown, being apprehended by Rio’s Civil Police, surfaced online a short time later.
“We can’t make any comment while the legal case is going on here”, O’Brien said.
“We don’t know what the allegations or charges are yet”, he said. He has denied any wrongdoing.
The Sports Minister Shane Ross has all but ruled out an internal Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) into an alleged ticket touting scandal in Brazil.
He flew into Rio on Sunday and met Hickey for crisis talks on the growing scandal but was left “stunned” by the OCI president’s refusal to allow an independent to join the internal inquiry into the matter.
Mr Ross was pressed about reports in this morning’s Irish Examiner which said the Government is considering pulling the funding from the OCI. “The public deserves answers as to how the OCI operates and how tickets allocated to Ireland were handled”.

He said the allegations centered on 1,000 tickets belonging to the Irish national Olympic committee, of which Hickey is the president.
