The next YG artist to release a new single is CL!
The name CL might be new to you, but the young K-Pop star is well on her way to conquering the American billboard charts with her late-summer jam LIFTED.

Watch the video for “Lifted” above. Referencing drugs and liquor liberally while roaming around New York City, this isn’t the same CL that K-pop fans are used to. Sound familiar? That’s because it heavily samples “Method Man” by the Wu-Tang Clan (to the point of being a near cover). Method Man himself even makes a smiley appearance, giving the much-appropriated song his stamp of approval.
“Get yourself a 40 and enjoy the song”, CL suggested through an email ahead of the release, referencing the laid-back lyrics of “Lifted”.
In the music video, CL wears much Moschino – in an interview with W magazine, the singer refers to Mr. Scott as her close “friend” – as well as a Vetements hoodie, and jorts over sweatpants.
The 25-year-old, who initially found success as part of the K-Pop supergroup 2NE1, first teased the release of “Lifted” on Instagram, posting a photo of the track’s cloud-themed cover art and confirming its August 19 premiere date. “Lifted” is the first release from any of the remaining three members following the departure of former member Minzy earlier this year.

In 2014, CL signed with Scooter Braun’s label SB Projects. There is no official release date for the EP yet.
