Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have released a joint statement in which they acknowledge their relationship was volatile and neither intended the other any physical or emotional harm.
Actor Johnny Depp (L) and Actress Amber Heard attend the “Black Mass” premiere during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival at The Elgin on September 14, 2015 in Toronto, Canada.
“There will be no further public statements about this matter”.
A disturbing video recently came to light showing Depp pouring wine and yelling at Heard, as well as a gruesome picture of Depp’s bloodied finger which he cut severely during an alleged argument with his wife.
Heard has accused Depp of abusing her on multiple occasions, including an incident where Depp allegedly threw a mobile phone at her. Since the news of the couple’s separation, the pair have been entangled in a web of controversy, particularly domestic violence allegations by Heard against Depp.
Amber, who claimed Johnny had abused her throughout their relationship, dismissed the case with prejudice, which means she can never re-file it.
A multiday hearing on the case had been scheduled to begin Wednesday.
The actress was granted a temporary restraining order on May 27 following her allegations that Depp physically attacked her on a number of occasions during their brief marriage.
Depp, through his lawyers, claimed Heard was ginning up bad press to increase her payout for the “short marriage”. Heard, 30, did not file charges at the time; days later, she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
Depp, who also starred in the flick “Edward Scissorhands”, then dipped the bleeding digit in blue paint and scrawled the names of the men – most notably actor Billy Bob Thornton, sources said.
