You would figure with him so close to hitting records, which include four away from 700 home runs, 18 away from typing Babe Ruth on the all-time record and 59 from typing Hank Aaron for second on the all-time home run list, there is still a chance the 42-year old will be out on a field at one point or another. He hasn’t played in the field in a long time.

Rodriguez’s contrition and acknowledgment that he behaved poorly during the Biogenesis scandal has been liberating and uplifting for him. In the National League you’ve got to play the field.
That “something”, an agreement for A-Rod to become a Yankees adviser and instructor, doesn’t go into effect until next year. He might have had a few years left in him.
Still, it will be hard to give up the game.
Since Rodriguez announced he would retire after playing his final game with the Yankees on Friday, there have been unconfirmed reports that the Marlins have had internal discussions about him. Rodriguez started Thursday against the Boston Red Sox and again Friday against the Rays.
Exhausted from the tumult of the past week, he said he probably would not even take calls from anyone – unless it was Steinbrenner – for a while.
At least the US men’s and women’s basketball teams continue to win, although the men have had some closer than expected games. “I’m at peace, and I’m really excited”. I guess everybody is entitled to one bad day. But there is also something to be said for retiring as a Yankee, his team since 2004.

After spending several days discussing this plan with Alex, I am pleased that he will remain a part of our organization moving forward and transition into a role in which I know he can flourish.
Despite the awkward release/retirement that ended Rodriguez’s tenure with the Yankees-and until otherwise noted, his career-Girardi tearfully said at a press conference after the game that, “If this is the last time he [A-Rod] plays, I wanted it to be something he never forgot”.

I’m not going to push the panic button yet on the men’s team as they’re still finding ways to win games. “But I’ll definitely watch Sunday’s game”.
