Pakistan offers India bilateral arrangement on non-testing of nuclear weapons
Indian media has been accused by China of playing in the hands of unnamed western countries by playing up the negative and ignoring the positive in Beijing’s ties with New Delhi, local reports said, quoting the Global Times. The artcile was written against the backdrop of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s India visit that was focused on cooperation over the upcoming G20 and BRICS summits. It pointed that Wang’s was exclusively aimed at seeking New Delhi’s cooperation ahead of the upcoming G20 and BRICS summits.

Hailing India for keeping a “neutral stand” over the South China Sea despite pressure from the USA and Japan, state-run Chinese media today said there are some contradictions and frictions between the two nations, but the overall bilateral relations have been developing smoothly.
An official statement issued in New Delhi had specifically mentioned that the South China Sea dispute wasn’t discussed during meetings Wang had with Indian officials.
The article further says that Sino-Indian relations are not progressing smoothly because of two reasons – first, India’s manufacturing isn’t competitive and second, India’s media continues to vilify China for keeping India out of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
The Indian press “has not yet learned to see the considerable potential of the bilateral relationships with a constructive mind-set”, it said.
The tabloid wondered why the Indian media is doing it “again this time”. “They tend to attach more attention to divergences while overstating contradictions between the two”, the paper said. Instead, it showered praises on the Indian government for not falling into the trap of the sensationalized Indian media and provocative public opinion.
“Over the years, bilateral joint works are unfolding in a variety of fields such as worldwide trade, environmental protection, infrastructure projects, and anti-terrorism, as well as energy security”.
A subsidiary of People’s Daily, Global Times has of late been acerbic towards Indian media, accusing it of spoiling the ties between two nations.

The South China Sea issue may have figured in the recent foreign ministers’ meet of India and China, but the conjecture that Beijing tried to win New Delhi’s support on the subject was wrong, state-run media said on Wednesday.
