The owner of a St. Louis building where part of a five-story brick wall collapsed is pledging to find the cause and rebuild.

A station shuttle was put into effect between the 5th and Missouri and Stadium MetroLink stations, but has since been canceled.
MetroLink stopped using the Eads Bridge for about five hours Wednesday at the request of the Fire Department, which was concerned that ground vibrations caused by passing trains could further damage the building. “It looks like on the side of the building that has collapsed, all the windows have been re-pointed or re-tuck pointed”. The Blue line MetroLink trains are operating only between the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 and Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Stations. Metro owns the lot alongside the damaged wall.
Bricks from the south face of the building crumbled to the ground and water from broken pipes was spraying down the side of the building, KTVI-TV in St. Louis reported. Oswald said the owner had met with city inspectors and planned to hire an engineering company to examine the collapse and determine his next step. The cause of the collapse was not immediately known. People standing on the MetroLink platform can see into offices in the building.

“These are old buildings, they’ve been worked on over the years”. He called the collapse “extremely rare”.
