Last Friday the club failed to progress through to the semi-finals of the African Champions League – after a 2-2 draw with Zambian outfit Zesco United – which sparked an arguement between Jol and some supporters.

“Ahly have amicably terminated the contract of Martin Jol at his request”.

Ghanaian striker John Antwi is set to play under a new coach at Egyptian side Al Ahly after Dutch coach Martin Jol departed his job after just six months in the post following their elimination from the African Champions League.

The agent of Al Ahly manager Martin Jol insists that the Dutchman will not be leaving the club any time soon.

Reports have claimed that some fans tried to attack the team during a training session on Tuesday. “It has been decided his assistant Ossama Orabi will lead the team in the next match against ASEC Mimosas in Abidjan”, said a statement on the club’s website.

During Jol’s brief spell in charge, he did guide Al Ahly to the Egyptian Premier League title last season.
