British station ITV to switch off all seven channels
You know that your neglect of the gym membership you bought in January is getting out of hand when even your TV is telling you to get off the damn sofa and start moving..

Viewers will miss out on Murder, She Wrote (ITV), Coronation Street Omnibus (ITV2), The Real Housewives of Orange County (ITVBe), Heidi (ITV3), Shed and Buried (ITV4), Deadtime Stories (CITV) and Heartbeat (ITV Encore). They’re not fucking about here.
The big switch-off is part of the I Am Team GB campaign, in conjunction with the National Lottery – an event which will also see over 2,000 sports clubs across the United Kingdom open their doors to allow people to try a new sport for free.
And telly addicts who turn on their screens will get a basic message “We’ve gone running – why don’t you join us?”
Among the athletes taking part is long-jumper Greg Rutherford, who won Olympic gold in London and bronze in Rio. Some guy might wake up bleary-eyed and half cut from the night before, and by midday – after a well-timed Berocca – have transformed himself into a graceful gymnast.
The Bank Holiday weekend event is part of the celebrations to welcome home Team GB from the Rio Olympics.
In an announcement, the broadcaster said: “The big switch off will see ITV’s seven channels come off air for an hour to encourage the great British public to get up and out and involved in sport at one of the many events happening across the country”.
