Wolf Nominates Bruce Beemer to Replace Kathleen Kane As Attorney General
“Bruce Beemer has a depth of experience”, Wolf said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Kane announced Tuesday that she will resign as attorney general at the close of business on Wednesday.
Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman, R-Centre, said he expected Beemer would be confirmed swiftly, potentially by the end of August.
Wolf called Beemer the “right fit” for the office and said Beemer has the respect of the agency’s employees.
“We’re going to try to do it as quickly as possible to try to restore some stability over there”, Corman said. In announcing the hiring, Kane said Castor would perform duties that she could not because of the suspension of her law license.
The choice of Mr. Beemer was immediately hailed among prosecutors and agents in the office, many of whom viewed him as a stabilizing force during Ms. Kane’s tumultuous tenure.
Suspecting a former state prosecutor leaked the story to the Inquirer, Kane sought payback and ordered aides to leak secret investigative information to the Philadelphia Daily News created to show that that prosecutor had never filed charges in a 2009 probe into a Philadelphia NAACP official, prosecutors said.
Kane became recklessly entwined in a revenge game, a seemingly made-for-television – bribes, pornography, judges – political clash with former prosecutors from the attorney general’s office, and when that happened, the line the traditionally non-political office of the attorney had crossed a line it should never cross.
In the meantime, the office remains seeded with controversial hires or promotions under Kane.
Kane hired former Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler to conduct what he called a universal examination of more than 1 million emails.
He also discussed whether Joshua Morrow, a key witness for the prosecution against Kane, could be prosecuted for lying to the statewide investigating grand jury, despite being granted immunity. He also served as a lead advisor to the former attorney general and was responsible for almost 800 employees who worked in the office.
When Beemer left the agency, Kane promoted Castor to fill his position as first deputy.
If confirmed, Beemer will return to his role as inspector general upon completion of his service as attorney general.
Bruce Castor Jr., 54, will take the oath Wednesday as the state’s top law enforcement official.
He testified against Kane during her trial, saying his “heart sank a little” when Kane asked him to stop an investigation into grand jury leaks.
When Beemer resigned last month to take over the inspector general’s office, Kane made Castor her first deputy. “If he can be proven to have committed perjury without using the testimony that he gave during the trial, and using other evidence”.
He also told jurors he feared Kane was responsible for the leak.

“We all agreed in the jury box: Bruce Beemer, he was telling the truth the whole time”, Galasso said.
