The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the quake, which prompted some residents to contact the Morris County OEM Communications Center with concerns of a loud explosion and their homes shaking.
There are no reports of any damage or injuries.
USGS geophysicist Zachary Reeves says 78 people reported feeling it. Officials in neighboring Morris County said they also got calls from people in Morristown, Randolph and other areas, CBS2’s Andrea Grymes reported.
Corrections: The quake was previously reported as 2.5-magnitude.
