Texas unemployment rate for July up slightly to 4.6 percent
New Jersey lost a total of 4,700 nonfarm jobs in July, according to a report released Thursday by the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Napa’s 4.2 percent unemployment rate in July tied with Santa Clara County for fourth lowest rate in the state.
MA remains well below the US jobless rate which stood at 4.9 percent last month.
The New England unemployment rate averaged 4.3 percent in July.
Governor Nikki Haley also issued the following statement Friday in response to South Carolina’s unemployment rate declining to 5.2 percent in July from 5.4 percent in June.
Over the past 12 months, the county gained 76,000 payroll jobs for a gain of 1.8 percent.
Professional and business services recorded the largest employment gain with 10,000 jobs added. Wisconsin’s rate remains lower than the national unemployment rate (4.9 percent). This was up from 3.8 percent in June and unchanged from July 2015. Wyoming’s rate stood at 5.7 percent in July.
The unemployment rate is based on a sample survey of households and the jobs numbers are based on a sample survey of employers.
Financial Activities added 1,300 (+0.6%) jobs over the month.
The labor force grew by an estimated 400 people from June and by 1,100 from July 2015.
Sectors that shed jobs over the month in July included manufacturing, natural resources, professional services and a catch-all category called other services. Employment in the information sector, which includes media organizations, lost 1,100 jobs and leisure and hospitality saw a decrease in employment of 1,000 jobs. Construction jobs were up by 7,800.
The state’s civilian labor force was down 15,000 from June to 6,521,000. The private service-providing sector, at 3,820,600, added 8,000 jobs.

Unemployment typically jumps in Santa Cruz County during the summer months as a result of seasonal layoffs by the local produce import industry.
