Bolt eyes 200m record in race to immortality

On Monday, clinching his third consecutive Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter dash, the world record holder said he had high hopes for his next slated event: the 200-meter.

“I got introduced to him later on and told him I could help him”.

Jason Kenny defeated Callum Skinner in an all-Britain final to defend his cycling individual sprint gold and win his second gold of the Rio Games. The Jamaican superstar won for the first time at that distance at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, when Gatlin was serving a suspension for a doping suspension.

“I don’t know who decided that”, Bolt said.

Bolt’s fastest time for the 200m this year is 19.89s, set in London last month.

The world’s fastest man already holds both the world record at 19.19 seconds and the Olympic record at 19.30 in the 200m.

The Jamaican was some way behind second place finisher, Justin Gatlin (USA), 9.89 but eventually took over the race, with Canadian Andre de Grasse taking the bronze in 9.91.

Faced with a turnaround time of barely over an hour between the semifinal and final, Bolt had trouble gearing up to be at his best for the marquee event of the Olympics. “I’ve never seen it happen before, but I guess some people are more vocal than others”.

Usain Bolt returns to the track for the preliminary head of men’s 200. “Two more medals to go and I can sign off. Immortal”.

Meanwhile, Christian Taylor of United States won back-to-back gold in the men’s triple jump, leaping 17.86m to take the win.

RIO DE JANEIRO-Losing is one thing. He could add more medals in 200m and 4X100m relay to his kitty before the Olympics get over. Tomorrow, I’ll show up with much better progress.

“I hate the mornings so I am happy to have this out the way”. Last night when he flew past me with ideal technique and his huge stride, he looked back and smiled; I only had a moment to capture this epic Olympic moment, but I was in the right place, ready. “To be able to have the respect of my rivals who I line up with, that’s all I really care about”.
