The inquest has been postponed until further notice, but may take place on Friday, an official at the court said.

After the funeral, her body will be laid to rest at a private ceremony in Allerton Cemetery, where her parents are buried.

Cilla Black’s family have urged fans to come out and celebrate her life. The singer and TV presenter was sunbathing on the balcony at her villa in Estepona, Spain when she fell and hit her head.

It was thought the singer would be cremated after a funeral service near her mansion in Denham, Buckinghamshire – just like her husband Bobby, who died in 1999.

“Her passing away is a particular shock because despite the aches and pains we all suffer, she was always so upbeat”.

The inquest – an examination of the facts around a sudden or unexplained death – is listed under her married name Priscilla Maria Veronica Willis, aged 72.

Since her passing, friends have called for there to be a statue of the late star in her honour, in her home city of Liverpool.

The city will come to a standstill as famous faces and thousands of fans are expected to attend the service for the TV star.

The Right Reverend Thomas Williams will hold the funeral for the Surprise Surprise host, which is due to be held at 1pm.

“Our friends, who are big Cilla fans and both Scousers, said let’s name a street after her. I think that’s very touching and a great idea”.
