The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released a statement saying the Piper PA-31, which was manufactured in 1984, had departed Kissimmee Gateway Airport and crashed in the trees near the Tuscaloosa airport.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff says this crash is the deadliest in recent memory.
The dental community felt the impact deeply, said Dr. David Felton, the dean of the Ole Miss School of Dentistry.
The plane crashed into the Van de Graff Arboretum Park.
Farese, who is originally from Ashland and graduated from Marshall Academy, played baseball at Vanderbilt University, where he was a team captain his senior year. The couple is survived through five children.
Mayor Bobby Herndon of Northport, AL explains, “It was an aircraft landing in Tuscaloosa Regional Airport and it sent out a distressed signal”. The couple were from Oxford and were dentists at Farese Family Dental. He says his thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by the tragedy.
The couple leaves behind their three children. They had to call patients to let them know the family owned office is closed indefinitely.
University of Mississippi Chancellor Jeffery Vitter said the Oxford community is grieving together.
“Austin and Angie have both been clients of mine as a lawyer and have been friends of mine”, Luckett told WREG-TV. The National Transportation Safety Board will be in charge of the investigation and will release updates.
