Manager Arsene Wenger admits Arsenal do not know how long Tomas Rosicky will be sidelined for following knee surgery, but said Jack Wilshere was on schedule with his recovery.

However, it seems that the England worldwide will not have to go under the knife and is expected to return sooner than initially planned.

Speaking before Arsenal’s visit to Crystal Palace on Sunday, Wenger said: “We said Jack would be out for four weeks, and he’s in the second week now so he’s on schedule”. Arsene Wenger is doing his regular job of denying everything and trying not to give even the merest hint of his intentions.

“You come back to the relationship with your fitness and medical people that is confirmed by what I see in training”.

“Alexis is fit and did good work during the week and is available for selection”, Wenger added.

Wilshere has had a fair share of injuries over the course of his career, with his ankle usually the cause of his misfortunes.

“He is not close because he has not started full training so I would say at least three weeks from today”. We were working very hard and we are focused to do what can strengthen our squad.

“We are as open after that bad result as we were before”, he said.

Nevertheless, the report speculates that Wilshere, who started just nine games in the league last season, could be back after the global break.
