Inspiring the next generation is one of her primary motives, admits Dipa.
“It was the best jump in her career, she was so ideal but judges were not convinced may be by the landing as she went a bit low”.
But when she qualified for the Olympics at the Rio test event in April, the recognition and funding finally started to flood in. Dipa finished the event in fourth position with a score of 15.066 points.
The 23-year-old Dipa, who had become the first Indian woman gymnast to have qualified for the Olympics, scored an average of 15.066 points, a mere 0.15 less than the eventual bronze victor Giulia Steingruber (15.216) of Switzerland. The gymnast’s coach Bisheswar Nandi added more confusion to the issue stating that he doesn’t have any clue in the matter.
“We are in the process of obtaining some IP addresses and are writing to Twitter seeking information about certain handles”.
Nandi however was full praise for the Sports Authority of India for providing all the facilities the duo needed ahead of the Olympics. “Since the servers are placed outside India, it is a bit of a time consuming process but we will get it done as early as possible”, Mukesh Chaudhary, a cyber crime expert assisting the police, said. Deepa said that she is very content with her achievements at her first Olympics, although, missing a bronze by a narrow mark does seem to have dampened her spirits.
Dipa, who participated in her maiden summer games, stood 4th in the finals of the gymnastic finals.

Kohli also missed out because the government wants to keep a few slots open in case the likes of shuttler P V Sindhu, who has reached the semifinals in the Rio Games, wins a medal. Dipa and her coach left Rio, Aug. 18.
