The unemployment rate stood at 4.7 percent in July, the same as in June, according to the state Department of Economic Opportunity.

Officials say the unemployment rate remains down from 4.4 percent a year ago.

“The difference is that government jobs are fairly flat”, Shelnutt said. Larimer had 180,399 employed and 5,655 seeking jobs.

Total employment for Idaho grew by more than 1,000 to 781,000.

Grand Island came in at 3.5%, also up a tenth of a point from June but 2.3-points lower than past year. Two states also had significant over-the-year declines in employment: North Dakota lost 9,900 jobs (-2.2 percent) and Wyoming dropped 9,800 (-3.4 percent). “Education and health care added 1,700 jobs also to lead all sectors”. While the rate of job losses in the oil and gas industry slowed, the energy sector’s drawback still chilled statewide jobs numbers.

Among the surrounding San Joaquin Valley counties of Fresno, Tulare and Kern, Kings had the second-lowest jobless rate.

The Naples area added almost 5,000 jobs in the private sector over the year in July.

Unemployment declined by 4,858 people in July, with the number of unemployed people reaching 120,788.

In the last three months, California employers have hired a net 97,100 people, significantly fewer than they did over the same period a year ago.
