Volkswagen recalls 420000 vehicles for air bag issue
Volkswagen AG is recalling as many as 420,000 cars in the U.S.to fix a flaw that may prevent their air bags from deploying in an accident.

The recall includes Passat model years 2010 to 2014.
The recalled vehicles are the CC, Passat, and Tiguan with model years 2010 to 2014; the Eos and Jetta with model years 2010 to 2013; the Golf and GTI with model years 2011 to 2014; and the Jetta SportWagen with model years 2011 to 2013.
On certain vehicles, the steering wheel clock spring could become contaminated with long hair or long fibers which may cause a displacement of the internal guide loops.
Should the cable tear, the electrical connection to the driver’s front airbag may be lost, causing the airbag monitoring indicator light to illuminate.

The recall comes as the German group struggles to overcome under-performance in the world’s second-largest auto market, where the sale of VW-branded cars has plunged. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says dirt can draw a wires which keeps one discuss packaging electrified, that can result in a lack of success to install.
