Mayor expresses ‘surprise’ at delay of the Night Tube
Night Tube services on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines will follow in the autumn.

Online estate agent eMoov has taken a look at the average property price across the two lines due to open on Friday, as well as the increase in value over the a year ago and the area’s rate of demand.
The night tube had several delays since its first inception three years ago from funding and strikes from unions, as staff demanded higher pay and had safety concerns.
“We have waited too long for the promises made by the previous Mayor to become a reality”, he said back in April of the Night Tube, “but ensuring it is up and running as quickly as possible once I am in City Hall will be invaluable in helping to save London’s nightlife”.
Figures from TfL show that more than 50 percent of people using existing Night Buses are going to or returning from work.
The London Underground is starting its first-ever overnight service, a move city leaders hope will make the British capital a truly 24-hour city and bolster the local economy.
The mayor has recorded welcome messages to be played out at Oxford Circus station in the heart of the capital.
However, some workers – in health care and other sectors – will no doubt be disappointed if employers revoke the paid auto services sometimes offered to employees working overnight shifts.
“The union will also continue to resist any attempts to deliver Night Tube on the cheap”, added Mick Cash, RMT’s general secretary.
The London underground launches a “Night Tube” service for the London mass transport system on Friday August 19. Thousands of doctors, cleaners and maintenance workers also work graveyard shifts.
The driver of the first train said the service was “great for London” and insisted he would be able to adjust to working through the night.
It joins cities like Berlin, Melbourne and Vienna in running a 24/2 operation, although it will always be a relative minnow to the 24/7 service offered by NY and other US cities.
The latest under threat is Fabric, which temporarily closed its doors last weekend after two teenagers died of suspected drug overdoses in the past nine weeks.
“The introduction of the night Tube service should only help boost the value of the properties surrounding stations due to benefit from the service”, says Founder and CEO of eMoov.co.uk, Russell Quirk, who provided the data.
Famed for its simple map design and incessant warnings to “mind the gap”, it now carries over 1.3 billion passengers a year.

The Night Tube will offer a 24-hour service on Fridays and Saturdays. They just carried on dancing with the rest of us and then at 3, 4am hopped on that London institution, the Night Bus. Meanwhile taxis are expensive.
