BMW M4 GTS previewed

It follows a successful formula utilized for previous BMW specials such as the M3 Evolution (1988), M3 Sport Evolution (1990), M3 GT (1995), M3 CSL (2003), and the aforementioned M3 GTS, and that’s an increase in power combined with a reduction in weight. To start, there’s a manually adjustable front splitter and rear wing, both constructed in carbon fiber. The hood of the auto is made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), the same material that is used all over in BMW’s i series.

The dynamic and exclusive presence of the BMW Concept M4 GTS is accentuated by the exterior paint shade Frozen Dark Grey Metallic, with the Acid Orange accent on the front splitter creating an effective contrast. They are shod with 265/35 R19 and 285/30 R20 Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres respectively.

Importantly, BMW’s M division claims that nothing about the Concept M4 GTS would keep it from being eligible for use on public roads.

Water is pumped from a five-litre tank in the boot and then sprayed as a fine mist into the intake plenum, which has the effect of reducing inlet temperatures, in turn allowing more boost and compression to be run, increasing power.

BMW has not really revealed the numbers surrounding the vehicle but we do know that the cars gets a healthy dose of racing technology so that the auto stays barely legal on the road.

The Concept M4 GTS is also “racetrack ready”, the spokesman said. When water vaporizes and goes through its phase transition absorbs heat, cooling the air intake significantly.

The strong performance potential of the turbocharged six-cylinder in-line engine already demands an exceptionally sophisticated thermal management system for the engine and ancillary units. Comprising of a main radiator there is now also additional radiators for the engine’s high-and low-temperature circuits, transmission and turbocharger in order to maintain consistent temperatures.

OLED rear lights radiate ultra-high precision.

Beyond offering a auto that will dominate on the race track, the M4 GTS is more than that. These have the ability to actuate individual light modules separately providing full-surface and homogenous illumination. More details on the production version will be revealed at a later date.
