Cooler weather on the way, but storms first

Clearly, we deserve a break from the excessive heat. An isolated shower is possible this morning but most areas will remain dry.

Monday & Tuesday: Sunny & pleasant. It’s looking like the heat will creep back in Wednesday with highs around 85 but that’s not almost as hot as we’ve seen this summer.

Saturday in Billings will be mostly sunny, the National Weather Service says, with a high near 81 and southwest winds of 8 to 11 miles per hour, becoming northwest in the afternoon. Cloudy, with a high near 68. South winds 10 to 15 miles per hour.

The rain chance is 70 percent.

Sunday’s forecast includes scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Tonight calls for partly cloudy skies, with a low around 69. South wind around 8 miles per hour. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. North northwest wind 10 to 14 miles per hour. Chance of rain 20%. About three-quarters to one inch of rain is possible. Today will be hot and humid with a chance for a shower or thunderstorm into the afternoon and evening. Low around 63. Southwest wind around 8 miles per hour becoming northwest after midnight. For meteorological summer (June through August), Madison’s precipitation total rose to 13.74 inches, 2.62 inches above normal. Northwest wind 9 to 13 miles per hour.

Sunday Night: Clear skies & much cooler.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Highs on Sunday will range from the mid-70s to around 80, and lows will be in the mid-50s.
