“Cleaning up this community begins with holding people accountable for their actions”, said Scott Ellington, Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District of Arkansas.

The IRS said it conducted two search warrants as part of the investigation with the hope it could disrupt drug operations.

“Today’s operation is a signal to those criminals that the law enforcement community at all levels will find you and stop you”, Thyer said during a press conference.

“This operation was the culmination of work that has been done in Blytheville and Mississippi County”.

A news conference was held Tuesday afternoon following a tactical operation in and around Blytheville Tuesday morning to crack down on drugs and guns. Officials said more arrests were likely.

Those purchases resulted in the acquisition of more than 19 pounds of methamphetamine and 89 illegally possessed firearms, several of which were stolen the release stated. “Our collective goal is to return these communities to their law-abiding citizens”. Too often, violent elements of drug dealers have taken over some of these communities and that is no fault of the local law enforcement.

More than 50 people in northeast Arkansas were arrested on Tuesday on firearms and drug charges in a major federal investigation that lasted a year and a half, U.S. prosecutors said. There will be a period of time where there is no drug dealing going on, at least from these individuals.

“Our community is worth fighting for, and I believe in Blytheville and Osceola”.

Those arrested were due to appear in a federal court in Little Rock starting Thursday morning, said Chris Givens, a spokesman for the office. Additional investigations continue at this time.
