Officials in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday suspended the search for an unidentified man who is feared to have fallen from a rented stand-up paddle board on the lake the day before.

Friday’s windy conditions on Lake Tahoe have diminished visibility, making the search hard for investigators.
The board was found a half-mile from Timber Cove Marina.
In the area where the board was discovered there exists a drop off from relatively shallow water approximately 20 feet to an area of the lake which is several hundred feet deep. The boater who found the items returned the equipment around 6 p.m, Williams said. Police say he speaks limited English. He did not leave a credit card, phone number or any other identifying information, investigators said.
Police did not find the man during a search of the lakeshore Wednesday evening.
No one associated with the man has reported him missing.
Williams said police are treating the investigation as a missing-person case.
“With a serious and sustained effort, we can protect Lake Tahoe’s native species and the health of Tahoe shorezones from unwanted invasive species”, Sudeep Chandra, biologist and limnologist from the University of Nevada, Reno and co-author of the plan, said. “Hypothermia is always a very high risk for anyone in the water longer than 10 minutes”.
The board had been rented from the South Tahoe Standup Paddle business on Harrison Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. Other targeted areas include the lake’s outlet in Tahoe City and popular beaches at Meeks Bay, Crystal Bay and South Lake Tahoe.
Included on the GoPro camera are photos and videos which span a period of at least the past six months. Authorities believe the man is a foreign visitor.
