The rate in July 2015 was 5.7 percent. “The subpar job growth streak is over”.

Payrolls increased 255,000 last month after a rise of 292,000 in June, which, according to a Labor Department report, was slightly above previous estimates.
The June statewide jobless rate was 4.5 percent, up one-tenth of a percentage point from June.
The number of people continuing to receive jobless benefits rose by 15,000 to 2.175 million in the week ended August 6, the highest level since April though still historically low. Rates for other states were 2.9 percent in New Hampshire, 3.2 percent in Vermont, 4.1 percent in MA, 5.5 percent in Rhode Island and 5.7 percent in CT. Plenty of jobs are also available, government data show. Employment in goods-producing industries increased 2,600. Jobs in manufacturing declined 1,300. It was the second consecutive monthly increase for the county since 4.4 percent was recorded in May. “Manufacturing was up 2,600 and government up 2,700”.
The numbers also show that MA added more jobs a month earlier in June than were in the estimates released a month ago, gaining 17,600 jobs compared to the previously published 16,400 job gain estimate.
The not seasonally adjusted rate for the State was 3.4 percent in July, dropping from 3.9 percent in June.
Nonfarm data is provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Current Employment Statistics program.
Jobless claims fell by 4,000 to 262,000 in the week ended August 13, the fewest in a month, a Labor Department report showed Thursday in Washington.
Hannah Halbert, a researcher with Policy Matters Ohio, said Ohio’s job growth has been mixed.
Hoffman said if the state’s economy can grow at a more rapid rate, there will be a demand – eventually – for those of lower skill levels. “Investments in infrastructure improvements, energy efficiency, and higher education would create momentum and allow more workers to share in the state’s prosperity”.
Jobs generally pay less in the Phoenix area than in the nation as a whole. There were job losses in local government – most due to public schools on summer break – as well as in professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, information services and financial activities.
But coming out of the state’s worst downturn in decades, Georgia’s 5 percent jobless rate last moth was still slightly above the USA rate of 4.9 percent.
That’s a substantial 4.5 percent annual decline.
Kings gained 1,100 jobs in July, adding positions in farm-related employment and food processing.
