Nebraska’s jobless rate inched up to 3.1 percent in July

Still, the number of OH workers unemployed last month is higher than it was a year ago when there were 267,000 jobless workers state and the unemployment rate was 4.7 percent.

Historically, the county’s rate was a low 3.4 percent in December of 2000.

The unemployment rate for June was 4.2 percent.

“The 43 consecutive months, in which Ohio’s job growth was below the national average, has ended”, said George Zeller of Cleveland, an economic research analyst.

Floyd County’s unemployment claims jumped by 97.4 percent in July, according to Georgia Department of Labor statistics released today.

“Payroll jobs grew”, Condon said in a statement.

Despite the overall job gains, the number of Georgians filing for unemployment benefits in July was up 0.4 percent from a year ago with 35,639 workers filing initial claims for jobless assistance last month. Professional services accounted for the largest private industry employment gains.

The state also notes that it has added some 275,900 private sector jobs since February 2010, the recessionary low-point.

July jobless numbers for local areas will not be available until next week. Manufacturing employment was up by 2,600.

The biggest increase in claims were seen in Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico with the largest declines in MI and Kentucky. Manufacturing employment decreased 100 as losses in durable goods (-7,100) surpassed gains in nondurable goods (+7,000). Other job losses came in professional and business services, 1,300; leisure and hospitality, 1,200; other services, 1,000; information services, 900; and financial activities, 800. The rate had dipped to 5.4 percent in March, but has steadily grown since.

“This is another important step forward”, Malloy said in statement. “Investments in infrastructure improvements, energy efficiency, and higher education would create momentum and allow more workers to share in the state’s prosperity”.

The unemployment rate in MA has dropped to 4.1 percent and preliminary estimates show the state gained 7,300 jobs in July. The nation gained 255,000 jobs.

Mining and logging jobs, which includes oil field workers, declined by 700 from June but were down 39,400 from the same time a year ago — a almost 15 percent drop. This was up from 3.8 percent in June and unchanged from July 2015.

That’s a substantial 4.5 percent annual decline. The Lincoln rate also climbed a tenth of a point, to 3.2 percent from 3.1 percent in June. And it was just 5.4 percent the month before that.

The report shows the civilian labor force declined from June by 2,430 – the result of 2,700 fewer employed and 270 more unemployed Arkansans. The employment-population ratio was 59.7 percent.
