As a rookie last season, Williams ran for 517 yards, averaging 5.6 yards per carry and tied for the Bills team lead with seven touchdowns.

“I’ve always said this is a performace based business and the release of Karlos Williams is strictly performance based”, Bills GM Doug Whaley said. He missed the first two weeks of training camp while working with the team’s training staff on getting into shape.
Coach Rex Ryan expressed his support for Williams, referring to him as “a really talented young man”, and saying he hoped he would be on the team “for a long time”.
His departure happened nearly as quickly as his ascension a year ago during his rookie season.
Whaley also had no time frame as to when Dareus would rejoin the team.
He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and has been a starter since Buffalo drafted him with the No. 3 pick in 2011.
Williams was McCoy’s backup, but he still managed to gain more than 600 total yards and score nine touchdowns in just 11 games.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) – Buffalo Bills star defensive tackle Marcell Dareus says he will enter a rehabilitation facility after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy for a second consecutive season. Dareus announced the decision in a statement released by the Bills on Saturday.
Dareus said he took “careful consideration” before announcing his plans in a statement released by the Bills on Saturday, about an hour before Buffalo hosted the New York Giants in a preseason game. Last month, the NFL suspended him for the first four games of the season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

In today’s National Football League landscape of players under the microscope as role models coupled with the stigma related with drug use, this is a great step forward for Dareus. No further details were released.
