Cumberland had only one target from former New York Jets teammate Kellen Clemens before suffering the potentially severe injury. The Chargers weren’t any better in a 27-10 loss at Tennessee.
His first attempt of the evening was batted down at the line of scrimmage, but he followed it by leading San Diego on a 10-play, 43-yard drive to set up a 50-yard Josh Lambo field goal.
In just his second game with the Chargers, Jeff Cumberland suffered an Achilles injury right before halftime. However, the defense more than made up for the lack of offensive production. And while the Cardinals will likely be cautious with the veteran the remainder of the preseason, he’s expected to be ready for the season opener.
