65-year-old woman devoured by stray dogs in Thiruvananthapuram
Kerala health Minister KK Shailaja told journalists inThiruvananthapuram that she personally supports extermination of risky stray dogs, but the government was facing legal issues over this measure.

The man was then also attacked by stray dogs but “escaped unhurt by jumping into the sea”, according to the Times of India.
Siluvamma’s son Selvaraj, who went looking for her on the beach, saw his mother being attacked. Silvuamma’s body is kept at Govt Taluk Hospital, Neyyatinkara.
Though she was rushed to the Medical College Hospital, Sheeluamma’s life could not be saved.
Local Administration Minister K T Jaleel said the government would adopt strong measures to check the stray dog menace.
The Kerala chief minister’s office has assured compensation to the kin of the victim.
It is a long-time grievance of residents that they do not have public toilets in the hamlet as a result of which they have to depend on the beach. Siluvamma, a resident of the coastal belt, suffered dog bites all over her body and succumbed to injuries while on her way to hospital, according to her family.
The apex court had in April last appointed the panel to study the seriousness of the stray dog menace and also to look into the complaints of the victims before submitting a report. The Kerala Medical Services Corporation had spent only Rs 2.5 lakh on vaccines in stray dogs in the state Rs 12 crore is the amount Kerala spends to buy anti-rabies vaccines and serum Rs 2.75 core worth medicines was procured by Kerala in 2014-15.
Residents of the coastal village have lashed out at union minister for women and child development Maneka Gandhi for her sympathy towards strays. “It seems none is interested”.

A relative of the injured 50-year-old woman said: “We were shocked to see both her hands bitten at several places by these dogs”. We know what to do. “Are we inferior to these dogs”, asked a group of angry residents in Pulluvilla as quoted by The NEWS Minute.
