Check out below for how to watch today’s Leicester vs Arsenal encounter, along with team news when it comes.
Arsene Wenger admitted to having a “difficult week” following a backlash from fans, in the wake of last weekend’s loss to Liverpool in the Gunners’ opening game of the Premier League season. We have already invested at a high price and we will do it again.
He said: “If we find the right player we will not be reluctant to spend big”.
Wenger also spelled out the challenges of working in the current transfer market, as he suggested English clubs are being asked to pay “ten times more” than their European rivals for what he described as “average players”. “So I don’t think there’s a problem to attract players”.
“They have the exactly the same qualities they had past year and they are team who are very quick on the break and defend well as a unit”.
“If I buy you tomorrow for 45 million, I’ve spent 45 million. Spending it to buy they right, top-quality player is the quality”.
Vardy was strongly linked with a switch to the London club, weeks after his goals helped fire Leicester City to Premier League glory. We are a club with 600 employees who we need to have a responsible attitude [towards] as well.
Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Wenger was non-committal on each incident but highlighted Leicester’s record of winning regular spot-kicks on their way to the title last season.
On the plus side, Wenger saw Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud return to action at the King Power Stadium following post-Euro 2016 breaks.
Arsene Wenger was keen on signing Vardy earlier in the summer and activated the 29-year-old’s release clause.
Wenger also offered an update on Aaron Ramsey after the midfielder was forced off midway through the second half of Arsenal’s defeat to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon with a hamstring injury.
