A SENIOR Cabinet official said Saturday the continued silence of Senator Leila de Lima regarding her affair with her married driver suggested an admission of complicity as an accessory to adultery. Leila De Lima’s supposed romantic affair with her former driver and bodyguard, Ronnie Dayan, played a role in corruption at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, chairman of the House committee on illegal drugs which may handle the congressional investigation, said he supports the action of Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to file House Resolution 105 to find out the reasons why there had been an abundance of illegal drugs inside the national prison under De Lima’s watch.
Baguilat said that the lawmakers “singled out” de Lima as the culprit for the proliferation of drug related activities at the NBP by concluding that the convicted drug lords took control of the maximum prison facility during the former Justice Secretary’s term.

He did not divulge the foreign government, but said he asked permission to reveal it in public. Duterte also alleged the driver had collected money from the drug lords, but added he could not categorically say they ended up with de Lima. “I have no idea that my photo is now trending”, he said. We will dig deeper and [look for] answers why and how the illegal drugs proliferated at the NBP which coincidentally happened during her time.
Duterte warned all NBP personnel to cooperate in the investigtion.

“At the Senate, de Lima was asked about the house, and all she said was, hindi sa akin yan [That’s not mine]”.
“In the meantime that we are now waiting for the House of Representatives, which is also conducting its own probe, I urge De Lima to proceed with her investigation”, Duterte said.
“Are you not surprised that during her term as Secretary of Justice, there were special privileges granted to nearly all inmates?”

The President’s attack on De Lima came days ahead of the Senate inquiry into extrajudicial killings in the government’s war on drugs, which the senator will lead.
