BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) – The Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway was stopped because of continuing bad weather in the area.

Dillon has made six starts at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Larson finished third in the Food City 300 Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway Friday night. Those drivers who race in the series full-time and have at least one win are automatically qualified to be in the championship field. “That’d be pretty neat”.

Three-time series champion Stewart missed the first eight races this season recovering from back surgery and received a playoff waiver from NASCAR if he qualified. The rest of the top ten is as follows: Martin Truex Jr., Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, and Kyle Larson.

It is down to the final four races before “The Chase” begins for the 2016 series championship. However while he has raced strong at Bristol, he has encountered bad luck the last two races here including last March when tire issues forced him out while leading.

It looks hard for anyone to crack what appears to be JGR’s dominance. A five-time victor at the track, he likely will go of as a favorite on Saturday night.

No one could say with confidence Friday morning if the upper groove will be very drivable for Saturday night’s race. He salvaged a sixth-place finish at Pocono after a mid-race battle for the lead with Austin Dillon resulted in the two making contact. Then during qualifying, Biffle did a way-too-similar spin slide.

He said he thought the auto was strong and he was heading to a fast lap when he felt the vehicle get loose and slip away.

Logano has proven he knows what it takes to win at Bristol and he could do it again on Saturday night.

“The first times I drove at Bristol were really fun because if a guy slipped up from the bottom, it gave you a little window to get under him”, Edwards recalls.

Last year: Ryan Hunter-Reay won the race, but that was a secondary consideration after driver Justin Wilson was fatally injured after he was struck in the head by a piece of debris from Sage Karam’s auto. Happy has 10 Top 5s and 14 Top 10s in 31 career starts with a 14.3 AFP.

Kyle Busch can also legitimately lay claim to the title of King of Bristol as he is tied for the most wins at the high banked half mile with five. The last to win three straight summer events here was Darrell Waltrip in 1981, 1982 and 1983. “It trains your eyes to work together and I need that”. “It crosses your eyes and makes them do all kinds of amusing things”, Earnhardt said.
