Five Notre Dame Fighting Irish football players were arrested Friday night on a drug charge, Indiana State Police confirmed.

Just after 10 p.m. on Friday, troopers conducted a traffic stop in Fulton County on a vehicle that was traveling above the speed limit and had an improper taillight. The trooper utilized his narcotics detecting police dog to conduct a free air sniff around the Ford.

All five players were charged with possession, and found themselves incarcerated overnight.

All five were arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail, where they were charged with possession of marijuana. Here’s more via ABC 57’s Brandon Pope.

The university confirmed that those arrested were: 19-year-old cornerback Ashton White, 21-year-old starting safety Max Redfield, 18-year-old wide receiver Kevin Stepherson Jr., 19-year-old linebacker Te’von Coney and 19-year-old Dexter Williams, who is one of three running backs expected to play regularly for the Irish this season.
