Wyndham: Si Woo Kim leads by 4

Glover – the 2009 U.S. Open champion – had a chance to match Furyk’s PGA Tour record 58 he shot at the Travelers Championship earlier this month, but he missed a short birdie putt on 17, then three-putted the hard par-four 18th.

After sinking a 10-foot birdie putt at his penultimate hole, the par-four eighth, he needed another birdie at the ninth to fire a 59 at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. He ate a double bogey-5 at the seventh with a tee ball into the water, but elsewhere was flawless, circling seven birdies on 15 greens in regulation.

Still, Langley has quite a bit of work to do as he entered the week No. 175 in FedEx Cup point standings, and only the top 125 qualify for the playoff opener next week, the Barclays at Bethpage Black.

Kim has served his US Tour apprenticeship, which started in 2013, and slowly but surely developed into a title contender. Love will make his first three captain’s picks September 11 after the BMW Championship. “I just need to tidy it up”.

“We will factor that in there, that Jim Furyk missed a lot of tournaments, that he played really well”, Love said at Baltusrol.

While it ended on a sour note, the second round of the Wyndham Championship was still a memorable effort for Lucas Glover. “It was ideal. Probably the best one I’ve had all week”.

USA teammate Rickie Fowler was tied for 25th at 8 under after a 68.

Defending champion Juli Inkster shot a 4-under 68 for a share of the first-round lead in The Legends Championship with Becky Iverson and Trish Johnson. His putt from 49 feet rolled next to the hole.

The final twoball of Kim and Cabrera Bello tees off at 7pm United Kingdom and Ireland time.

Woo had to settle for a 10-under 60 to move to 12 under for a four-shot lead early in Round 2.

But Pieters fell back with two straight bogeys on the 11th and 12th for a 12-under 204 total at the Albatross Golf Resort near Prague. The American has also returned a 59 along with Al Geiberger, Chip Beck, David Duval, Paul Goydos and Stuart Appleby.
