Read! This is all what kept Abhay Deol away from Bollywood
Here are casts of Happy Bhag Jayegi film…

That sure can not be a box-office victor.
The movie that also stars Abhay Deol, Jimmy Shergill, Ali Fazal and Momal Sheikh, portrays Diana aka Happy as a Punjabi girl. Yes, she finds herself in Pakistan! All hell breaks loose as the hunt for the missing bride tracks Guddu by the enraged and powerful Bagga and the father gunning for the daughter who has earned him enough shame.
Happy Bhaag Jayegi is set in Punjab, where a vibrant, young and independent woman Diana Penty (Happy) is thrust into marriage by her parents to Jimmy Shergill (Daman Singh Bagga) who is a local political goon in Amritsar.
At first taken aback by her abrasive manner, Bilal decides to help Happy.
Instead of Happy returning to India and marrying Guddu (which would have resolved the film’s main conflict in 30 minutes), she prefers to stay back in Pakistan.
Alas, Happy Bhag Jayegi disappoints big time.
“I’ve yet to watch the whole movie myself, so I’m personally not even aware of half of the scenes”, says Momal, “but from what I’ve seen and gathered, they have definitely shown a positive side of Pakistan, where they are working on helping Indian women”. The trailer pretty much gives away everything. The one with the title role here attempts a long jump to escape her forced shaadi, but lands up in a pickle when she nose-dives into the wrong getaway vehicle. “Happy Bhag Jayegi is a light-hearted comedy where actors don’t go overboard”. Because I knew that I would need it to make me more confident about playing a role, especially something so different. And we can pretty much say the same about the film. Anand said the board also had problem with Piyush Mishra’s Pakistani policeman. This works so well because he seems to relish what he is made to do. It seems the writer, director and the producers who have backed this film have forgotten that the three pillars for good cinema are – story, screenplay and dialogue and “not just a random interesting thought”.
The other drawback of the film is the treatment of the characters that lack depth. Diana looks luminescent but her character just doesn’t have the persona that will make everyone fall for her.
Therefore, if you are a sucker for love stories, this one will only amuse you in parts and do precious little else.
But your debut in Cocktail was well-appreciated, didn’t that drive you to do more films?
