BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) – Break time is over.

After a week off, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is back on the track this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Most recently, after being involved in a wreck at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with Alex Bowman, he accused the 23-year-old of wrecking him on objective, a charge that Bowman denied.

“I can’t put it into words”, Kennedy said. “But we won’t know until we get into the race what line is going to be the winning line”. After not finishing in the top 10 in the first 16 races, he had an eighth, sixth and fifth the next three weeks at Daytona, Kentucky and New Hampshire. It also allows Edwards to get creative, knowing a mistake or two won’t end his season on the outside.

When it comes to Bristol lately, the battle for supremacy has come down to the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas and the Penske Fords, and the best driver statistically in the Gibbs camp is Matt Kenseth. “And from there, we’ll just let it play out”. “We had it before, so we definitely wanted to keep it”. Last race: Justin Marks held off Sam Hornish Jr.in the rain to win the Mid-Ohio Challenge, his first career win.

“We did all we could”, added Hamlin. Rookies Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney are second and third, respectively. “I thought it might be kind of something cool if we could incorporate that into what I do on the weekends”. He has a notorious reputation for wanting to run against the wall at most tracks, and Bristol was no exception.

The national media bemoans the fact the racing isn’t very exciting and that attendance at IMS – like at all NASCAR tracks – is on the decline. “But as long as it’s fast, any vehicle looks good to me”.

After Chris Buescher scored his first career victory at Pocono on August 1, he enjoyed his off-weekend by visiting his family in Texas. Kahne, Ryan Newman, and Greg Biffle also have not won a race this year but they have won previously at MI, the next stop. Then during qualifying, Biffle did a way-too-similar spin slide. “It was going to be a great lap, a sub-15 second lap for sure, and I got in the corner really deep and got on the throttle. I got out of the water alive and pretty fast”.
