The 127kg ape was visited by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, who watched in awe and admiration as Koko experimented on the instrument that he’s mastered over decades.
He added: “My sweet and true friend Koko rocks a flea bass like it ain’t nuthin”.
Yeah, well if Koko was having a blast, it seemed like it was nothing compared to Flea.
Flea gave a music lesson to an unlikely pupil this week as the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist hung out with the famed Koko the Gorilla at the Gorilla Foundation in Woodside, California. It also promised ‘future collaborations’.
‘She’s got the fingers and everything, she gets it!’ enthused Flea, as Koko’s long black fingers trilled over the chords.
“This is the greatest thing that’s ever happened”, Flea said, while calling Koko a “very curious gorilla”. “This is the day that I will never forget in my life”, he exclaims in the video.
