Mourinho is desperate to restore his tarnished reputation after being sacked by Chelsea last season and the United manager enjoyed an encouraging return to the touchline in his first league match since a December defeat at Leicester City triggered his exit from Stamford Bridge. Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford – these are the guys with him.

“He knows what he can be for them as well as what he does with his performances”.

By contrast, there was nothing but star quality behind United’s third, with 34-year-old Ibrahimovic driving home his shot from distance to maintain a record of scoring on debuts. “He is at the top of his qualities”.

Jose Mourinho believes Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s influence on his Manchester United team-mates will be just as crucial as his inspirational contribution on the pitch.

Liverpool joined the Reds on three points after an impressive 4-3 win at Arsenal. Theo Walcott fired in the first goal for the Gunners in the 31st minute, moments after missing a penalty.

Liverpool’s fluent passing and clinical finishing in the second half was too hot for Arsenal to handle.

Arsenal hit back twice through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers, but ultimately came up short.

While talking to MUTV, he said, “It was a tough game for both sides”. It was first time since 2015, that they scored three goals in an away league, sweeping aside risky opponents in the process. “It was hard work but a deserved win in the end”.

And Mata was right at the heart of United’s first chance of the match after 27 minutes, as he teed up Rooney on the edge of the area, only for the captain to fire his effort straight at Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
