Wenger slams criticism over lack of spending
After two games, Arsenal only has one point, and the fans appear to be upset with the lack of transfer activity. “I’m not the only one”, Wenger said in his postgame news conference. If I listen to you then I will have done well because I spent the money, but spending the money in itself is not the quality. Every game we play we want to win the game. “It doesn’t matter how we play, as long as we get the three points”. We are struggling to find them.

The comments will not be music to Gooners’ ears, of course. We don’t speak about the performances of the players anymore.
The fact that Wenger sat at a podium that read “Leicester City Football Club” made the comments sound even more absurd.
“We don’t want teams getting away from us [in the title race], but it’s only two games in”, Walcott told Arsenal’s official website. Arsenal finished last season, second to champions Leicester City, but had given up the chase for the elusive Premier League crown months before the season drew to its close.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hit out at criticism of his club’s transfer policy after he once again came under pressure from supporters to spend money on new players.
“They are highly influenced by the media”, he said. “I will take care of him and make sure he gets to the right place”. “It’s as simple as that”.
On the plus side, Wenger saw Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud return to action at the King Power Stadium following post-Euro 2016 breaks.
“We are Arsenal – we fight for the title”.
Arsenal’s third signing Rob Holding has been pushed into the first-team picture a bit too early, and the inexperience is evident from the young English centre-back’s performances. “You should be happy”. The 26-year-old marshaled the back-line with aplomb and was one of the best players on the field.

Wenger added sarcastically, “But I’m sorry he didn’t cost 55 million, so he can not be good”.
