Trump chief quits over cash links to Putin ally
Paul Manafort, the embattled chairman of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign who has been under fire in connection with a Ukrainian corruption investigation, tendered his resignation on August 19, 2016.

In another sign of a changed approach, Trump delivered a speech at the Charlotte Convention Center with a teleprompter, the third time this week he has read from a prepared text.
Mr Manafort’s lobbying connections to pro-Russia politicians in Ukraine are certainly a distraction for Mr Trump’s presidential campaign – but unlikely to be the main reason for his departure.
In a statement, the Republican party candidate called Manafort a “true professional” saying he appreciated his great work, but there may have been a clash of personalities as Manafort tried -unsuccessfully – to reign in Trump’s freewheeling campaigning style.
As we previously reported, Manafort then became a prominent part of Ukraine politics, helping Yanukovych, who is an ally of Vladimir Putin, win an election.
Hillary Clinton also wants Donald Trump to come clean on financial affairs with Russian Federation, and she’s not letting that question go anytime soon. Just yesterday a report said a firm run by Manafort allegedly orchestrated “a covert Washington lobbying operation on behalf of Ukraine’s ruling political party” in an effort to sway us public opinion. In that report, Associated Press cited emails it had obtained, adding that Manafort and his deputy failed to disclose their work “as foreign agents” as required by federal law. Trump’s son Eric, meanwhile, told Fox News that Manafort “was wonderful”, but his father didn’t want to be “distracted by whatever things Paul was dealing with”.
More than 40,000 homes have been damaged by the floods in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. “You know, Paul was incredible”.
Edwards said, “Instead, we hope he’ll consider volunteering or making a sizable donation.to help the victims of this storm”. Its first television ads of the general election went up Friday, about two months after Clinton began airing general-election ads.
This shake-up follows a clear attempt from Trump to pivot into a more moderate space, as he last night apologised for any personal insults he had made over the course of his campaign.
On Wednesday, the Trump campaign announced that former Breitbart News executive chair Stephen Bannon would serve as CEO and pollster Kellyanne Conway would be promoted to campaign manager.
But the resignation and the events that led to it have cast a shadow on an already faltering Trump campaign.
“Sometimes, in the heat of the debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don’t choose the right words or you say the wrong thing”.

“I have done that, and believe it or not, I regret it”, he told supporters in a battleground state, one of the five where he will be concentrating his efforts under the changes in his campaign.
