The Blues have only brought in N’golo Kante and striker Michy Batshuayi during this transfer window, but the Italian tactician reveals he is still looking for defenders.

The Blues want to land Rodriguez, who is available having fallen down the pecking order at the Spanish giants.

Diego Costa scored a late victor for the second time this week as Chelsea came from behind to beat Watford 2-1 on Saturday and complete back-to-back Premier League victories under new coach Antonio Conte.

“I’m pleased for the right commitment, attitude of the players, the right spirit”.

“If you look now at our squad, we have only five defenders – four that started today and an academy player Ola Aina”, he told Sky Sports.

Both new signings made their Chelsea debuts against West Ham on Monday night.

Earlier, Etienne Capoue scored his second of the campaign in superb fashion to put the hosts ahead at Vicarage Road.

Craig Cathcart (6 out of 10) – Got the defence in line, and kept Chelsea’s aerial threats at bay, but the late substitutes changed the complexion of the game.

‘When you lose you deserve to lose, it is something we will earn from, we had the level and showed we can compete with the big teams, we need to work more on those small details.

“We need to pass more time to have a better answer game by game”.

“But it’s not only about Diego”. Batshuayi is a young player with a great potential. Normally these wins are very important to improve, to transfer the work, for our confidence to rise, because after a bad season like past year it’s not easy to start, to win two games.
