The move follows the surprise release of visual album “Endless” during the week, with new single “Nike” following hot on its heels.
The record dropped via Apple Music at midnight, and is stylised “Blond” on the artwork.
The 17-track album features guest stars including Beyonce, Kendrick Lemar and Andre 3000, with production handled by Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Rick Rubin and Hudson Mohawke amongst others.
Billboard.com said Blonde was released digitally as an Apple Music exclusive, but pop-up stores in cities such as NY and Los Angeles appeared and distributed a magazine with the album inside Saturday.
At the pop-up shop, the Guardian reports that the album came packaged with a 360-page magazine titled, Boys Don’t Cry (the presumed name of this album).
Writing on Tumblr, Ocean said: “I had the time of my life making all of this”.
