On Friday, containment for the 3,929-acre blaze, suspected to be arson-related, stood at 65 percent.
“Firefighters are concentrating on fire suppression fix and are assisting returning homeowners”, the agency said this morning.
Almost 200 homes and businesses were destroyed in the tiny town of Lower Lake, which saw much of its downtown wiped out by the Clayton fire that started last Saturday. Fire suppression fix has begun in an effort to minimize the effects of the fires damage.
“As surveys are completed and additional data is confirmed, the number of structures damaged or destroyed may change”.
Authorities have charged the man accused of starting the Clayton Fire with 14 counts of arson and one count of attempted arson in connection with 13 separate fires dating back to July 2015.
Crews at the fire scene today total 1,216, according to Cal Fire.
“Our hearts go out to the people of Lake County and everyone involved in the relief efforts as they courageously fight through the awful tragedy that is affecting their homes and their way of life”, said 49ers President Al Guido.
